CALLER ID reads UNKNOWN NAME. This number has called saying:
"This is an important message for you. I'd like you to call be back at 347-284-6151 to resolve a legal issue that needs your immediate attention!"
Called twice within three days and left a prerecorded message by a woman attempting to sound authoritative about "an important legal matter." Call was general and did not mention any names in our family. This is not how legal notice is served and not how legitimate law firms contact defendants in a court action. Legal notice comes by certified mail or through direct face-to-face contact by a process-server handing court documents directly to you. The IRS sends letters addressed to the taxpayer identifying the problem and telling you how it may be resolved. This is clearly a scam.
A woman with a foreign accent contacted my parents at their address by phone, stating that she was calling about a legal matter, and that I should call her as soon as possible.
When I called 347-284-6151 a woman with a foreign accent answered, asking if I had a lawyer. When I asked her why I needed a lawyer, she stated that I owe taxes. When I insisted on clarification, she was not forthcoming. Instead, she stated that she would call back tomorrow. Clearly a scammer.
Got a call from (347) 467-1176 to call about legal matter at: 347-284-6151. When called this number "officer Smith" from US Treasury answered. When I asked why there was a call about legal matter before any legal papers were served to me : ) he said - "I will send letters and.... police officer!" When I started laughing ... he hunged up.
