Received the following message via text: "How are you working at?" Mixed into the message was a friends name and address and then the following: "Be sure that http://cau3.org/***** "  The link brought me to "http://automatch.iaddurl.org/" which of course was populated with my friends name and was a notification of an alleged approval for auto financing with zero down payment.  A scam as far as I am concerned.  I did not click any of the available links.

For a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

Good info, Rapperman. I received a text from a different number, with a "poiun.com" URL in it. I never go to those scammy/scummy sites, but checked it with TrueURL, and it redirects to automatch.iaddurl.org, with the intended recipient's name, address, and my phone number in the link.
One spammer told his VoIP provider that he had a file proving the intended recipient had "opted-in" for his garbage. They're addressing the crap to someone I don't know, at a number I've had for years. "Somebody must have entered the number wrong when they 'subscribed'." BS!
The best info I've found about "automatch.iaddurl.org" so far is that "the site is based in Singapore, but the real location is being hidden."
I'm going to play it safe and not even have TrueURL confirm the redirected link, so the pond scum spammer doesn't get any confirmation that his spew is reaching anyone.
Good info, Tamianth, except my cellular provider doesn't use the "7726" feature. I don't reply "STOP" to any of the spams, because I think that would also confirm a "live" number for the spammer. One provider told me that "STOP" messages go to them (the provider) and not to the customer/sender, but I don't want to try it.
Gotta go file another FTC report.
