Got a call with caller ID showing 052695757 Obviously a call center in an oriental country.  Said my wife had pay day loan checks from 2010 and they were offering chance to settle "before it went to courthouse" Caller would not give me his company name so when I asked for his manager he gave me another guy wh spoke just a bad English.  The supposed supervisor said he was from Chase.  I know Chase would not be calling and offering to settle with any one other than the person they were calling for and most certainly would not be using a call center with people who can not even speak or understand clear English.

I've had this happen a few times, and have seen it listed as a scam.  Fortunately I'm a paralegal that works with attorneys so he got frustrated when I kept asking questions that would make sense if someone was truly calling about a law suit being filed.  Not sure if there is a place to report them though.  All I know is they end up having your information, but NEVER verify anything or give further information.

I received a phone message from this caller ID number from a man with a very heavy Indian accent claiming that he is Officer David Slick from the American Financial Crimes Investigation Department.  He said someone I know is involved in fraud and they had my name and information to get more information about this matter.  It sounded very fishy, and when I researched the company through the internet I was led to a website listing complaints about these type of phone calls.  And when I researched the phone number he gave me to call him back (347-289-3012) I was led to this same website for this phone number. Researching the caller ID number I was led here. All websites reporting everything about the message I received is a scam.  Apparently it is a huge and dangerous fraud ring.  Do not get involved.

THIS IS A SCAM. Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) and using bought/hacked loan application data to extort money for fictitious crimes or your personal ID.
