I received the same scam. Wanted 8 laptops. I quoted $400.00 high on all 8 ($3,200.00 extra) and he said that was fine. I think they need to keep the total under $10,000.00.
The email came from Matthew Arbuckle out of Detroit. The credit card was from a Jim Davis out of Durango, CO and they wanted the laptops shipped to Darling Phillips in Barboursville, VA.
I just contacted him back and raised the price to $12,300.00 to see what he says.
received an email this a.m. from a seemingly legitimate business concern in detroit, mi. - to my business acct. looking to source aprx. $10,000.00 worth of hp product. very suspicious, of course. i mean, who sends out this type of request blindly to people they've never done business w/ before?!?!?! big red flag! i played along & replied to the email w/ an attached quote. sure enough, w/in 15 mins., i received a positive reply w/ a note that they will call me w/ c/c info (most likely a series of cards - all stolen or pilfered) to process the transaction. well lo & behold, i receive a call from a gentleman from this # trying to place the order. i, of course, began to question him hard as to why they would conduct buisness in this manner & why he was calling from nyc when all previous correspondence was to a co. in detroit. needless to say, nothing was ever transacted.
