Said he was "Detective Morse" or "Morris" with the NY Sheriff's Department.
Said an arrest warrant had been issued on me due to a payday loan.
I have had Pay advance loans in the past, but they are all now paid off and done with.
I am not in default or owing anything.
I told him to hold on the line and I would conference in the local FBI
office. That they would be interested in the scam he is running.
I then hung up.
I received a call from the same person saying the exact same thing. Said I owed a payday loan, something that I have never got. He also said there would be a warrant out for my arrest if I didn't pay it. When asking for the company that I supposedly owe it to he replied that he could not tell me that. I also ask him if he could send me papers so I could see the bill. He also said no again. I ask him if he pays things without seeing a bill first, he did not answer me. He finally hung up on me. Recalled me 3 days later and ask if I had sent the money and ask where I was. I replied at my attorneys, he hung up.
I got the same call... this is the second one I've received this month, so my number must be making the rounds on the scammers... my local phone company told me I could block the number by dialing *60 then inputting the number, I've done this twice and reported them to the local police. Waiting on the local police to get back to me for a report so that the phone company can prosecute them.
