1st call- caller was a man with a nigerian accent (or some african country), saying that I owed the IRS money, and that they'd issue a warrant for my arrest unless I made immediate payment. When i mentioned "The IRS doesn't make phone calls, they send letters", the guy got extremely belligerent with me and said that I needed to pay NOW, unless I wanted to go to jail. I simply hung up. 2nd-call: caller was a woman with an indian accent, saying the same things the male caller said, but with the added twist that someone from the IRS Investigations Unit would be coming by my house this evening to serve the warrant. COMPLETE SCAM.
I just got the same call for the same reason. What a load of garbage. The IRS sends letters and it is {typically} not from a 347 area code, but from an 888 or 800#.
just got phone call from Jennifer Watson, female with heavy indian/pakistanian accent why couldn't pronounce my name correctly with the same threats as everyone above. I am getting these calls yearly during tax season. They are extremely annoying as they keep calling and wouldn't stop.
Total scam operation. Ignore and block the calls. Callers are hard core Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists. They spoof local numbers. For some reason they love to use the 347 area code.
This is a scam. They say they are from IRS and that they have a warrant out for your arrest. IRS will not bother getting police involved. IRS will take the money straight from your account. They all have Indian accents so ignore them.
