got a call, said they were from the IRS. said they were going to sue me. gave me a case number. I don't think the IRS calls people for this. I would think they would send you a certified letter. Please advise.
They called me twice this morning. I called back and a lady with middle eastern accent answered my call. I asked who is it that called me twice. She said this is IRS. Then she asked me for my phone number so she can track the record on the matter. after I gave her my cell phone number. She paused for a min (asking someone for instruction i believed) , then she asked me for my name and SS number. at this time, i knew something was not right. I told her that you guys called me at this number and now you can not track the call, i don't feel comfortable to release the information. And immediately she hung up the phone!!!

I received 2 calls from this number to my cell phone, one early this AM, another a few minutes ago. Both times a message was left on the cell phone which simply repeated the calling phone number 2 times & then hung up.
At first I thought it was a phone company glitch. There is a special number phone installers can dial & a recorded message tells the installer the telo number that originated the call. I thought that the local telco had some sort of issue with this service. After reading the posts some jerk is messing up the telephone network with their phishing calls.
I got 2 calls this morning saying that it was the IRS and they were filing a lawsuit against me. Somebody should file a lawsuit against the jerks making these fake IRS calls.
two calls and two automated voice mails from this NY number about one hour apart this morning, the message started in the middle with no buisness name asking me to return the call saying something about case number, without any numbers mentioned on recording. Did not return call, looked the phone number up through Google and found out that a lot of people are getting this same call and it's not the IRS, because they tried bullying the return callers trying to get Info and Money. I'm blocking this number but others might fall for this scam. Someone needs to bust these scammers on fraud etc!!
What is the point of these calls? What are they trying to accomplish? Are they trying to get you to call back and give them more of your personal info?
