first it was a collection agency, today some other guy calls, gives me the same number and now he's a criminal investigator. ?????? Do these people not know what they do or who they work for????
Some guy named "Dwayne Carter" called from the "Bureau of Criminal Investigation" left a message on my voicemail saying that there's been case filed against my name and I need to call back as soon as possible or else I'll be arrested in the next few days and charged for my crimes.
He called my house phone first and when I didn't pick up he called my cellphone less than a minute later.
Obviously it's a scam, he had a thick accent and he said I was going to be arrested. You don't get arrested for not paying off loan debt. Also, there is no proof on paper that I owe anything.
These calls are getting old.
By the way, if you're tired of getting these annoying phone calls from your cell phone, get the Mr. Number app. Blocks any number you want and you can have it either send straight to voicemail or hang up on the person. best app I've ever gotten.
I received a call on my home number and then my cell phone from (347-321-9064) a person saying that he was from the Criminal Investigators Office and was looking for my son and that he had a case in his office for money laundering and he was going to be arrested for it and serve many years in prison unless he was able to talk to him today and get something worked out. I asked for his name and company name and address and he refused to give one and I asked him when this crime by my son was to have been committed and I was given April of 2009. I then told him that this was impossible because my son my in TDCJ at that time serving an 8 year sentence. He then asked me what TDCJ was and I told him it was the Texas Department of Criminal Justice aka Prison. At that point I told him that he is no investigator but only a collection agency and according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act that if he is told that the person he is looking for can't be reached at this number and not to call again that he is not to call again and that Texas is a Cease and Desist State. In addition to that he isn't supposed to discuss the nature of his collection to anyone other than the person that has the debt. He then said that unless I got my phone number changed that I would still receive numberous calls everyday. I shared what I thought about his calls and his attitude and that I would be filing the necessary complaints including with the Better Business Bureau and hung up. This is the most ridiculous thing and I can't figure where he got my phone numbers. I have contacted the Better Business bureau and was given information to file a complaint with the FTC and the Attorney General's Office. These people are totally stupid, unprofessional, have horrible attitudes, don't follow the rules and guidelines for collection practices and uses the title of Criminal Inverstigator as a scare tactic.
