I responded to a real looking job posting on Craigs list and received the following correspondence this morning 10/17/09. I immediately looked it up on line to see if it was a scam and sure enough it is. The response email is below in it's original format with my response at the end.

Title of Position: Data Management Consultant
Description of Position: Pacific Research receives an abundance of data from companies all across the United States. These are statistics, consumer opinions, demographic surveys, and a variety of other raw data from consumers. You will be part of a team that needs to co-ordinate that data which will involve data inputting, data extraction and basic analysis. The job requires basic knowledge of Microsoft word and Microsoft Excel. Because of the job’s nature, you have the option of working from home. If you choose to do so, please make sure that you have access to a computer and a phone line.
The position: The position is offered in both full time and part time. You have to commit a minimum of 12 hours a week for part time and up to 40 hours for full time.
Compensation: For Part time we offer a base pay of $14.75 an hour with incremental increases every 3 months. For full time, we offer a compensation of $35,000 to $55,000 depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
Additions: For full time positions, you will be issued a standard Blackberry Curve 8520. All full time employees have the option of being covered under the company health care plan as well as other perks that will be discussed at the time of hiring.
