Called at 4:27 PM MST. Caller ID said New York, NY with number 1-347-418-0415. They called on our outgoing line aka scam line. After 2 rings they get to talk to our fax machine. That phone not answered since January but the scammers keep calling but we are not answering!!! GTH

Recorded message from someone identifying self in foreign accent as Steve Martin. Said they have a report (from treasury dept?) and we need to call back. The number they gave was different area code and number from the one they called from I wasn't awake enough to write it down. The call came in at 7:12 am - a time of day likely to wake me up and I always answer at that hour. Sounds like a phishing message.
I've been receiving calls from this and another number telling me that they are from IRS or Justice Dept. Once I was threatened to be arrested if I didn't give them $6k+ at that moment and several other calls from the number listed above aggressively telling me that if I didn't give them $4700 immediately they would call a grand jury. Every time they call I can barely understand their accents. Sound Indian or [***]. It's a big big scam! Wonder how much money they are making from the elderly, people w/dementia, etc. They need to be stopped!
Recently some of these thieves were arrested but not before they scammed as many as 400 thousand people. Here's the news story on it.
