Usually when a telemarketer just hangs up it is because the sole purpose of the call is just to see if someone answers. Once they know a real person will answer, then you'll start getting all sorts of other calls. I run a small business and I google every weird number before I pick up the phone (easy since I sit at a desk). I can quickly determine if it's worth picking up thanks to sites like this. I still get a few calls a day (boo) but I used to get a few an hour. NEVER PICK UP...if it's important they will leave a message.
Also, I deal with a credit card machine rep IN PERSON....so I know these calls are not legit.
