I had the same thing happen to me yesterday! I went to a wedding show on the weekend and filled out a ballot, chance to win a trip to Florida. So at first I thought I actually won! But when he asked for credit card number, I didn't give it to him but he kept pushing for it. Even said that everyone gives out the number and I'm losing an opportunity of a life time! haha, it was actually pretty funny. He knew I called his bluf but kept pushing for it.

just like everyone else i signed up for a raffle at a trade show and a couple weeks later i got a phone call "you've won a cruise trip to the bahamas" for only $299 per person. he wanted to verify that i was a visa card holder by confirming my visa expiration date. what in the world would you need an expiration date to verify? You have my name, address and now they want my expiration date which is one of the most important pieces of information on a card. so we played along answering yes to all the questions he asked. When we started to decline the "winning" he asked if we were really sure? before giving up i asked for the name of the cruise and he said Bahamas celebration cruise ship. he asked if i'd seen their website and i said no. he suggested i look it up, i opened google and the second link listed was Bahamas celebration cruise SCAM. I brought this up in our conversation and he emphasized the S, its bahamaScelebration.com then i said there's another page emphasizing this is a scam and he replied with "it's only a scam if you don't receive any information on it." i told him we weren't interested and we were going to pass. we didn't have the money and he finished the conversation with "well your not the grand winner, your a runner up for the grand prize." then he said if you don't take it the prize was going to go someone else and hung up.
The same thing happened to me AND my girlfriend at almost the same time. I was unable to talk at the time so i asked them to call back without giving it much thought. They called back a few hours later, and since the first call i had spoken to my girlfriend about it. We thought, what are the chances of both of us winning this? So I spoke to them and they wanted to confirm my name address and credit card information. I asked them how many winners there were and how many people were in it and they said about 10% are winners. I played along for a bit acting surprised that my girlfriend and I had both won against the odds. He trailed on and began to be very rude. I gave up and told him to take me off of whatever list They had put me on. He then said I was going to lose my spot and its going to the next person then hung up the phone. If they keep calling try just telling them to take you off of their list. It seems to work.
