Asked for 2 people no longer with the company. Said he was calling about "new business" and "investments" and wouldn't supply any other information, such as what company he was calling from. I asked to take a message, he said he would call back then hung up.
Guy didn't say his name. Said he was with "National Securities" and had a really "hot" investment opportunity for me. Asked if I was familiar with Hoffman-La Roche. Went on to describe a cancer treatment drug that is wildly successful. I cut him off and asked if he was trying to sell me something. He said yes that he was sharing with me an investment opportunity. He said that he was under the impression that I had at least a million dollars invested in the stock market. I told him that he was mistaken. He asked where I invest my money. I told him that I do not. He said, "Good luck to you!" and then hung up on me.
He spoke very fast, as if he was trying to spit out his spiel before I could interrupt him. Sounded very scam-like.
He called one of my attorneys and said it was personal and that my attorney would recognize the name once I told him who was on the line. I asked my attorney (who of course said he didn't know him). When I got back on the line and told him by attorney did not know who he was and wanted further info before taking the call. The fellow then said that was fine, he would call back another time...I mean, really? What makes these guys tick and don't they get tired of doors slamming in their faces?
