This is a felony fraud ring. They call saying that a family member has been arrested and that you have to send them $1800 to get your family member out of jail. The call is from NY, they claim to be public defenders in Texas, but say that your family member was arrested in Connecticut. They are praying on elderly people.
They called my elderly mother and told her her grandson has been arrested in Connecticut and need $1900.I called them back and they told me the same bs, they hung up on me when I told them I just spoke to my son.
They called my grandma and told her that her grandson had been in an accident and arrested and to send 2,000 to Connecticut. We live in FL. Told her not to call anyone. They even pretended with one call to be her Grandson, then another call was the bondsman. She luckily spoke to her grandson before sending the money.
They called back later to see why the money wasn't sent, when she told them she had spoke to him and what she thought of them, they hung up.
