Just recieved a call from "IRS" stating that they have filed a law suit against me! Sure ok... IRS doesn't call you they ONLY contact you via USPS mail... not email, not phone (unless you call the actual IRS # that is on their website) Hope this helps someone else and you don't fall for this crap!
I also received a v-mail from a phone # in New York that I did not recognize. Said a law suit has been filed against me by the IRS and I called the number back. The 1st time a guy actually answered and said "hello" and I said I was returning a call from the IRS...he hung up. I'm pretty sure the IRS does not answer the phone with "hello". So I called again and a recording said "this Verizon number cannot accept any messages". As Jessica B said in her post above, if a person is being sued by the IRS, that would come in the form of a letter along with the necessary documentation. Chalking this up to phishing and/or scam but a little unsettling none the less.
