Called offering terrible advice to allow caller remote access to my computer.
His story:
- My name is 'Smith' (in heavy East Indian accent)
- From Network Information Services (NIS). He repeated this about 5 times, as if that somehow makes his call legitimate.
- My computer is connected to their network and is causing problems
- Can I turn on my computer and allow then to connect to 'show' me the problem
I laughed, told him I didn't own a computer & he hung up
Scary stuff:
- He knew my address, but not my name
- Number came from Google voice
