I just received a call from these idiots as well. The turd with the indian accent said his name was "Attorney" Steve Martin. He told me i had to pay 900.00 immediately or an officer from New York would arrest me, I live in El Paso though. He wouldn't give any other info, but became Extremely mad when I asked. He gave me the number to the police officer so I played along and called. His name was Mike Anderson, but he sounded just like the first guy. He said if you don't pay, I'm going to arrest you and then said Good luck! And then hung up. I tried to call back, but the call didn't go through. He called me back a few minutes later so I put my First Sergeant on the phone and he hung up in her face... Tried to call back and it kept saying all circuits are busy. I called the police department in El paso and the officer told me it was a scam and to make a report.
Me again. I have read about these guys and they do seem to have personal information (phone numbers, relatives names, business numbers, addresses, etc.) on theirthe victoms. One theory is that they obtained (bought) the information from hackers. These hackers apparently stole information from a small loan on-line creditor or credit company. So they are targeting people that may have completed an online application for a loan - thinking that if they stumble upon someone that has defaulted on that loan, or otherwise owes money, they may be able to scare the victom into believing their scheme.
We received a call for one of our employees and on the ID from the message sent to my email, the number was "52505708". They gave this call back number saying the employee needed to call back to resolve a legal matter. "Eric Vargo" from "Federal Affadavit Serices Law Firm"... He said he's sending an investigator to the job...
I just received a call from these guys. They left a call back # and when I tried to call back it doesnt go through. I then put the # in google and it got me to this site. They had one of my friend names saying that she used me as primary reference and he was going to take further legal action if I didn't call back. now that I read who they really are I think I am going to answer next time and just have a little fun with them :) lol
These jokers call every time I fill out an online loan application. It's the same thing just different names. Today it was Officer Mike Tyson...LOL They are in no way legitimate. No one issues a law suit against your social security number. They claim to be calling from several different places, today's call was ACS. I answer and just have fun with them. They said I owed money for a payday loan from Sept. 2009 (I filled out an app but never got any loan) so I just kept saying...no I don't...no you don't to everything they said and they eventually hung up on me :)
