I received call on my land line but did not answer. Called back and automated voice answering said if you want to be in a do not call list from the number that called you press 1 now.
I received a call from this number. They offered to lower interest rates on my credit cards through chase/amex blah blah blah. Looks like their strategy is to mention that you have a balance of about $3500+ on your card, and interest rate of more than 10%. People are most likely to fall for that.
I asked them do you work for chase? or is this something offered by a bank? The person just gave me a tailored answer: "We work for credit services for chase and others. We just help you reduce your interest rates". He also mentioned that "you don't have to do anything different, keep making your payments on time".
They asked me the expiration date on my credit card for verification purpose. I refused to give them any information. And they hung up in a hurry.
I got a call from this number as well. I aksed them to verify my name since they called me and they could not. Also asked what type of credit card they were calling about and they said a Sears mastercard. I told them that I did not have a Sears card and they still asked if I wanted to lower my interest rate on the card. I asked how they could lower the interest rate on a card that I did not have and they put me on hold, so I just hung up.
same as everyone else described. Yesterday got one from another number that was also reported by folks here as a scam. Every month over the course of a few days I get a batch of calls on my cell from different numbers with different area codes. I NEVER answer them. Every time I check the number here each one has been reported as scams by lots of folks. I'm guessing its the same people who just keep trying with different caller ids. My advice is to just block them--don't press 1 to get on their dnc list. That's just a scam to get you to connect with them. They clearly are not going to take you off a list--its a trick to get you to respond.
