Yup, I got this call too just now.... SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM.... BE CAREFUL... HACKERS....
... and a quick Google searching the phone number saved my a$$.
Here's what happened:
- it's 9PM and phone rings,
- a woman claiming to be calling from Windows Support-something says my machine is sending out massive amounts of error messages and stuff,
- she continues to show me how to check the Event Viewer,
- she says that my computer might crash at any moment, bla bla bla, if we don't fix the problem right away,
- she transfers the call to her "co-worker",
- he then proceeds to tell me that he'll fix my machine remotely if I go to site "www.support.me",
- I say, "Buddy, if you're calling from Microsoft, why are you directing me to a 3rd party site?"
- then I say, "Where are you calling from?"
- he says, "Alberta, Edmonton" and gives me "347-690-5431"
- I do a quick search on Google and see this post right away.... SCAM....
- After I read the note to the agent aloud, he hungs up.
Received call from 347-690-5431 stating he was calling from Windows Service Ctr and that our computer was sending out error messages. He wanted me to complete tasks on my computer which of course I did not do. I ended the call. This man is very difficult to understand verbally and I suspect could be a hacker. Just to let anyone else out there know of this in case it jeopardizes the security of your home computer.

Actually the calls I received were from 347 321 8983 but the same scam as above. This is a New York number and I did call it back and he answered.....I hung up again.
