Received several calls from "Mike Davis" within the past 2 days - lots of noise/static in the background. First message was so heavily accented I couldn't even understand what he was saying. In subsequent messages he says that I MUST call him back to avoid consequences and he can't leave details on the message - I have received 6 calls within the past 15 minutes on my work number. I am at a loss on how to proceed.
Received a call from (347) 735-5148. It's a cell number out of New York City. No message left. For giggles, I called the number back...with a very heavy Middle-Eastern accent...."Financial Law Division, this is Sherry speaking". Financial Law division for who? What company? Who knows! Over the past few months I've gotten multiple phone calls from people just like this. Most often the number that shows up on the caller ID is "8888". Each time I've actually spoken to someone, they have claimed to be advising me of a case being filed against my name and social security number. Sometimes they even ask to speak to my attorney, if I have one. Each time I tell them that I'd be happy to provide them with whatever information they need AFTER they have provided me with written confirmation/documentation that such a claim exists. I've yet to receive anything in the mail or via e-mail confirming any claim has been filed against me. Even better....one of the times (after receiving multiple calls in one day), I decided to tell the person they had the wrong telephone number. The person apologized then asked if I was interested in an auto loan. Really?
Have you ever applied for a "pay day" loan? Someone told me that's where they get their information. They had my social security number and everything. They have changed their number 4 times since they started calling me.
So heres the deal folks.. These middle eastern scammers have stolen identites from payday sites. They are either paying for the information or they are setting up fake payday loan sites to capture your information. They have called me for 3 months and switch their phone number every time I call them out on who they are. These people are scammers.. DO NOT give them money, DO NOT give or affirm any information.. I would also highly recommend getting a lifelock membership, as I did, because they have all of your information and u need to protect yourself from identity theft.. They have tried to take out loans with my info
