Phone rang, I answered and a ring tone sounded, then a heavily accented (indochinese?) female voice told me that my government wanted to give me a one-time amount of $7000. She hung up on me when I start telling her how bogus this offer was and to not call me back.

Called me saying they had a free government grant for me. Asked for the url & he said it was grants.com. If it had really been a government website, it would be .gov. Mentioned this & that I work in government. Caller asked me if I liked my job. I said yes, that I am an attorney (which is true), he immediately hung up on me. Do not answer.
Same situation as Lisa (above) described. Poor scammer as he kept having to stop in the middle of his "pitch" to consult his cheat sheet on what to say. Even dropped a couple expletives when he messed up. Supposedly I was chosen for a grant from "the Government" (whose government was never made clear) due to my exemplary record of paying taxes and bills, not filing bankruptcy in the past 6 months and having no felonies.
