I answered this call a few days ago, and the same thing happened as happened with Joey, a short silence, then the 'there was a very chirpy woman's voice "oh OH!! I had a problem with my headset" ', so that's part of the ploy. They have called me back a couple of times, including just a few minutes ago. I didn't stay on long enough to hear their line the one time I answered.
I got a call from (347) 763-7249. I answered it because when someone calls our shop after hours, the call gets directed to my cell phone. it was also a local area code. there was a second or two of silence, the way a telemarketing call tends to start. then there was a very chirpy woman's voice "oh OH!! I had a problem with my headset" at which point I hung up. the only people who use a headset are people at call centers.
