I just got a call from a person out of the country that wanted to go from France to some other country. I knew immediately it was a scam because when I told him he would need to come in and pay by cash for the first time-he hung up on me. I called back and he told me his name was Peter.
I think this is a scammer and I think he is about to start harassing me. He has also used the deaf system to call me..He is a foreigner from africa but is over here. I AM FRIGHTENED. THERE IS MORE TO THE STORY BUT TOO MUCH TO TYPE HERE...
I've been getting strange calls from strange numbers as well! This one though is the same number listed here, and supposingly from a guy who calls himself "Chris Johnson" living in Ohio, but when he left a message on my V/M, he certainly didn't sound American at all. Sounded like some foreigner with a Middle Eastern or African accent! He contacted me through email after seeing my ad on a penpal site. Said he wants to be my penpal, also said he is looking for a wife. He wanted to chat with me on the phone, so I gave him my home #, 'cause I was genuinely looking for friends, penpals. Little did I know that there are people who try to scam you this way! I feel like an idiot for being too trusting!
Told me through emails, he lives in Ohio, but after seeing his # on caller ID ('caused I missed his calls!), a New York number, I emailed him and asked him about that. He then told me he has a second home in NY, and floating back and forth between the two places. What a load of craps...!!! Had the nerve to tell me that it was his business # in NY, and he had called me from work. When I tried to call him back on this same number (347) 771-9431, I got a message telling me that "this Magic Jack # is not accepting calls". No business name, or any type of greetings at all!!
He was the second guy who is trying to scam me. They both said that they are contractors looking to win contracts all over the places. I didn't give my phone # to the first guy, and this one claimed that he was born & raised up in the UK, but has American mother, and his home is here in the East Bay (SF) area, but currently working as contractor in Nigeria. After a few weeks of corresponding, he started asking me to help him by sending him $300. Another load of craps!!!
People, especially the ladies, PLEASE BEWARE of these scammers. They are smooth talkers, and always try to sound so sweet with convincing stories online! Hope this helps, and would prevent more people falling victims to this type of con-artists!
This guy must be a scammer. He just called my office and tried to buy a one way ticket from New York to London for TOMORROW, and wanted to pay by credit card. Told him he had to come in person, and when he heard that, he hung up, knowing I was smarter then he was! LOL
Yes, we are dealing here with a fraud ring. I received an order for a ticket and as soon as I reserved the flight he ordered a second ticket totaling about $3500.00. The credit card he gave me was a stolen number. I spoke to the Bank (who did not realy care) and their fraud department was going to notify the card holder and replace the card, nothing more. No wonder the credit crad fraud in the US is unbelievable high, noone cares!!!!
