These people are hackers. Do not engage with them on the phone and definitely don't give them any personal information. It will cost you a couple of hundred dollars to remove their malware.
I work for Comcast. Cust called to report receiving call from this #. She is an elderly person and when they asked her to type in info on her pc, she did it. After a few minutes, something he said (in a strong Indian accent), finally sent up a red flag. He told her he worked for Comcast and Microsoft. She realized it was a scam, hung up, called her IT tech to come pick up her pc and clean it, and then called Comcast to report this. DO NOT TALK TO THEM.. DONT ANSWER THE PH WHEN THEY CALL..
friend of mine called me re the above phone # said some 1 called her n said a lot of errors on her computer. these very strong indian accent. said had to put in windows 7 or her computer or it would crash. had control of her computer too . Microsoft has windows n Microsoft DOES NOT CALL PEOPLE.. They said they were from windows. they figured the name windows would tell her it was legit which its not.in this case. they wanted 228. to install window 7 u don't put operating system into a puter without knowing if it can handle it. so be warned these things are targeiting elderly people. I m 1 but I am far smarter than most I know my puter. DO NOT ANSWER THIS CALL.. IF UR NOT ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST GET ON IT.
Received the call about computer errors. They took control of computer to resolve errors and then said a new Windows application needed to be downloaded. Paid them and they started process and said it would take several hours and that they would call back when the download was finished. They called several hours later but I was not home. Checked computer and nothing had been done. Called credit company to dispute charge. Will call NY number they gave me in the morning.
