Yesterday and today we received phone calls from someone with a heavy mid-eastern accent - had my husband's name - and said there was a criminal investigation against him and his physical address. He gave a supposed complaint file #, half of which I could not understand because of both the accent and the breaking up of the call. My husband is handicapped and rarely leaves the house except for doctor appointments. We are senior citizens and have never done anything criminal in our lives. Just the fact that they have my husband's name is scary enough. The call comes through YMax Communications. Don't know how you would classify this call other than a harassing threat.
My Mom also received two phone calls this morning from this number, about an an hour and a half apart from each another. Same scenario, both from two very heavy-accented men who told her about an investigation with her name and a case number, asking her to return their phone calls. She had me listen to them when I was there on my lunch hour and advised her that it's probably a scam and that I would check on this site - this site confirmed my suspicions. Thankfully, she never answered either of these calls and deleted their messages. It seems like these people are trying to target the elderly, please beware of anyone who places these calls. I'm sure part of their scam is asking for money and it's good to know that there are some very smart elderly people out there who refuse to be subjected to their scams.
