Posted something on Craigslist and at first, the offer seemed legit but then when I got the PayPal response, became very suspicious. I called PayPal directly and they said there was nothing pending in my account despite a very real looking PayPal notification to me. What really triggered my suspicion was the overpayment and then need to transfer money via Western Union. Once I told the interested party what I did, he still claimed it was legit and was international and that my local PayPal customer support wasn't familiar with this type of transaction (PayPal support isn't local). The interesting thing was that he kept on reaching out despite me telling them the transaction is over and he would only due via email. I asked for them to call me several times but wouldn't then he finally texted me but that's all.
Texted me about something I was selling on Craig's List. Then proceed to tell me they cannot pay in cash and I should set up a paypal account and then to send them the email address I set up the paypal account with. They will put money into the account and send someone to pick up the item and they were fine with not viewing the item in person. They trusted me and knew they would be happy with the item so were happy to proceed with the transaction. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!! I reported this number! Seems like this person has tried to scam others as well. Block this number if you get a text from it.
