Take the check AND envelope to the post office & have it forwarded to the postal inspectors. The scam is that they usually want you to wire money (untraceable) to the "shipper" and - as you stated - the check will eventually bounce.
Forward the text to your provider too. They may be able to block the caller.
They called to buy a parrot cage i have for sale in San Antonio Texas, and are sending me a check for a lot more than i am asking for the cage, so when they send someone from Bronx, New York to pick up the cage, i can refund the picker uper the excess payment i received, plus give them the cage. Of course, the check they sent me wont be good. So in order for me to analyze the SCAM, i am guessing the call is local, using the New York cell phone, to make it look like the person in San Antonio, is a delivery service, so if they are arrested, they claim they sent them on the errand. If they get away with it, i am just another victim. I am to understand that NEW YORK has ran out of partot cages and they must buy one in Texas and pay shipping of twice the price. Then when the person comes to pick it up, they pressure you into giving up the cage andv tge money, trying to nnentionnake you look like you are dishonest in the sale, and the problem with the check. If any at that time, is a mistake.
