A client came into my law office and advised that she received calls from this phone number that she would took out a loan, recieved a prepaid card, and then never paid the loan back. The caller said they would have her arrested and put in jail for 6 months if she did not pay. They also threatened to cancel her ID so that it would be invalid. They threatened to take her social security payments to pay off the loan. This is a complete scam. The caller identified himself as Justin McDonnel. When we call the phone number back, it rings several times, then there is a beep and the call is disconnected. Do not fall for this SCAM. There is no legitimate company and no debt. They want to get your money by making false threats.
Got multiple calls from this line saying they wanted my lawyer's name I was being sued due to non-repayment of a loan from Cash Advance. I have never used Cash Advance. Com and when I asked the non-speaking English fellow more questions he got very rude and hung up on me. I called back and a "lawyer" came on the phone who didn't speak English well either. He asked me to hold and never came back on line.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
