I have been getting approximately four calls per day from this number since Sunday. On Monday, there was an unintelligible message that included something about "The Bronx." This morning, the kid (probably a prepubescent boy and the same one I spoke to on Sunday) demanded $10K or someone whose name I could not make out will be killed. I reported this to the NYPD and traced this cell phone to the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. I suspect this all began when I posted an ad on Craig's List to sell some furniture that is taking up space in my apartment. Not surprisingly, the calls began after I disclosed my cell phone number to a purported buyer who eventually asked to "see" the furniture, not to arrange to buy it, and continued to avoid disclosing his own phone number. In short, donate your used items to a reputable charity and take the income tax deduction. Trying to sell in NYC is not worth the headache.

It started again when I got a new phone and I have again reported this harassment to the NYPD. Fortunately, my new cell phone carrier allows me to block numbers. Parents, this is one of the reasons kids shouldn't have cell phones. They are disrupting my business. Give them some attention. Make them do their homework. Register them in some activities. Set them up for success instead of a life of stupidity and failure.
