Got a call from this number and they didn't leave a message. Apparently a cell phone from Brooklyn New York. People who don't leave a message don't deserve a call back. I've saved this number under "Scam" so it will be caller ID'd in the future.

I just received a call from this number here in Calgary. The caller Id showed New York, so I knew it was a scam. But, I decided to answer it. No one was on the line. I heard a click then the line went dead. Oh well, I was ready to ream the person out and they didn't give me the satisfaction.
It's a "spoof" number. Doesn't exist. They are phishing for legitimate phone numbers. If you answer or if voice mail comes on ( or just rings in general ) then they know they've hit upon a real number. They then sell your number to other crooks who plague you with spam calls.
We can send a man to the moon but we can't be saved from spam calls? Really?
All phone companies and phone manufacturers should offer free spam blocking/unwanted calling features. And not just a max of 30 numbers...or whatever your particular phone company allows.
How about a setting that enables your phone to sound like a fax machine or a disconnected number if the call comes from a number that you don't know? At least my cell has some protection. I can set it to not ring if it's an unknown or private number...(but the rest come through) and it sends calls straight to voice mail.
Police, RCMP, FBI,CIA, etc should be allowed to arrest and charge these people REGARDLESS of which country they originate from.
ALL governments/countries should pull together and make this crime punishable by lengthy jail terms and/or heavy fines.
May the fleas from a thousand camels infest their armpits!
