I got the exact same msg left on my answering machine as "TC" above. My girlfriend in a town over from me got it last week. My caller id said it was from New York, NY, with the same number. Yes it was a foreign man's voice as well. I am also on DO NOT CALL list. This doesn't stop anyone. I still get tons of "unavailable" or "out of state" calls a day anyway. I have tape recorded this message and will play it for whatever agency wants to hear it in order to catch these idiots.
Foreign criminals don't care about any laws let alone the DNC. These people are overseas in India or Pakistan.
IRS Scam:
The IRS does not need to sue anyone. They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office. Several of them. Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for. Again delivered by the Post Office. Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own. If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?

If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):

Also received this same call today. Caller said his name was Dennis Quaid. Said I had to call back because of a Federal probe and I could be in trouble. This sounds like a poorly orchestrated scam.
