Same thing happened to me today. Foreign lady from the government confirmed my name and zip code (not my address) and said I was selected for a $9,000 grant from the government. I asked how I got selected and she said there was a survey in my state and I was selected along with 17,000 others and named off other stuff, like I had no criminal history and something about 6 months (couldn't really understand her) Said I could do direct deposit or cash. I said you can send me a check because I'm not giving you my bank information. She said we can't do that, it's cash or direct deposit. I said can you call me back in 20 minutes so I can talk to my mom. She said I don't have time for that. So I told her I'm not interested and hung up. Throughout the phone call I kept saying I don't believe this and think it is a scam. She said I know what a scam is and this isn't one. I'm so glad I had enough sense to realize it was a scam. I called the number and it's no longer in service. I hope they can't get any more info since I confirmed my name and zip code.
Scammer calling from "Microsoft Security Desk" advising me that my computer was leaking "very private and personal information" onto the internet. As usual, caller had Indian/Pakistani accent. If you jerk them around long enough, they get angry and cuss you out.
They call my home phone over and over even when we ask to stop and even told my my mom that my died dad told her to buy their product for the computer. Argue with her this needs to stop!!!
