After a few moments of silence, a recording comes on saying "I'm sorry, that's not a valid extension"

Chad, I've often thought the same thing. I have Mr. Number which is GREAT. They only get through once. Mark it as spam and you never get a ring from them again. (They may call but you won't hear it. Mr. Number just tells you that they tried to call. You can chose "hang up or voice mail".) I do not answer a number I do not recognize. If they call and do not leave a message, they are blocked.
