Yeah, it's a scam. No [***]! What can we do about it. Fortunately I was awake but it came in around 7AM. Fortunately I'm not elderly enough to get intimidated. If somebody physically tries to pick your pocket and gets caught, they go to jail. But this is "cool" because it's "high tech.."
Just received the same call with message left for me to call Kevin Masion. I called and Angelia White Badge # 11738 answered (with heavy accent). I asked to speak with Kevin Masion and she said he was unavailable. She then proceeded to ask me questions concerning a past tax return year. I asked her how I would know if the call was really from the IRS? She then disconnected the call.
"Hi. My name is Kevin Mason and this message is intended to contact you regarding an unfortunate action executed by the United States Treasury intending this year's attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid an initial (Court?) Magistrate, Judge or Grand Jury for a Federal criminal offense. My number is 360-203-0011, I repeat 360-203-0011. I advise you call Prayed With Us and help us to help you."
This is the message left, on a repeating loop, on my voicemail. As you can see, it does not include the name of the person he wishes to contact, nor any case specific information. He was a foreigner who composed a grammatically incorrect message designed to invoke panic. The message also demonstrates that he lacks correct and specific knowledge of how the IRS would conduct legitimate business. Do not respond to this obvious scammer. And to "Kevin Mason" may I suggest an honest day's work is always worthy of respect, no matter if it is minimum wage or less. It is a legitimate starting point and building block for better things. Right now you have nothing but all of our collective contempt or indifference. What a waste...
