This is a scam call from someone pretending to be from the IRS, telling you that they are going to sue you. It is not the IRS. The IRS does not use recordings for collections (per the IRS). SCAM
Got a message on my phone from this number. When I called back, they said I had been audited from 2008 to 2013. They stated that I owed $4,874.00 in back taxes. That an arrest warrant had been issued, that my home, car, bank account and Drivers License would be attached. They offered to settle out of court but when I told them I was going to contact the IRS directly, they hung up. I contacted the IRS and then called them back. Once again, they answered the phone "Internal Revenue Service," I let them know I worked for the government, was able to speak with an agent to verify what they said was not true. They then told me it was a misunderstanding, not to worry and hung up.
Automatic phone call, claiming it is the IRS and if I do not call them back, I will be sued. Not.
I am really more upset, that from the postings, everyone knows this, but even knowing the number, the government cannot arrest anyone or shut down the scam before someone get robbed.
But they can pick up on a email for someone trying to joining ISIS. Strange.
I heard about this scam on the news last week. I just received a call. First, the IRS does not initiate contact via phone. They send a letter. Also, they would not have a strange phone number. The call came from Brooklyn, NY I hope people stop and think and don't allow them to scare them into paying any money. I returned the call and told them to call my attorney. The number I gave them was for the local Police Department.
