These jerks have called me about six times, but from a different number. I tried calling them back just to give them some crap back the first time they called, but nobody answered that number. Indeed it appears to be some kind of scam and they used the same recording when calling from both numbers, saying they are the IRS and they are filing a lawsuit against me. I just signed a petition online from a US senator who hopes to sponsor a bill to stop this kind of phone scam. I hope somebody can get this stopped. It is really annoying.
VM from this number on 17 NOV. Listened to it 20 NOV. "IRS ... "lawsuit being filed......" Heard of this before, and seen it on this site before. Didn't call back, but checked on this site. Supposedly IRS doesn't make such contact via telephone, but only by mail. Have received a few bogus calls on other subjects, but this is my first of such as "IRS" ... lawsuit being filed ... call back..."
Call blocker might be of some help. Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd. Or where there is no caller ID. There’s no way to stop the calls from being initiated. Calls originate in India and Pakistan and they spoof local numbers.
Just got called ID 832-790-9109. Same bogus IRS crap. IRS will not contact people thusly over tax issues - only by US Postal Service, typically certified mail that you have to sign for so IRS knows you received it.
