They claimed they were part of a "rewards center". Sounded like a busy call center in the background. Cheerful, personable operator responded. He knew my first name. He claimed he was calling about $250 worth of gift cards I had registered for online. I have no memory of that and didn't believe him. He asked my age and occupation. I gave him a BS answer. He then wanted to know "what credit card do you prefer to use." He was quick to add that they only wanted to know this information because "the credit card company's sponsor our gift giving." Sure they do. I hung up. It seemed like a scam right from the start.
