I decided this was a scam immediately but because I fill a full cell phone battery I have now called them back 33 times, haha. Oh what fun. Sometimes I yell, sometimes I ask for a supervisor, other times I told them I was with the police department. Every time the phone magically disconnect. I call back again and yell at them for hanging up on me. While this really isn't helpful, at least I have become a pain in their [***]. At least a little bit anyway.
I got a call this morning and just returned it. They answered hello it's lol. Said I owed 4917 back taxes from an audit. Said I'd have to travel to Washington to go to federal court or.....take care of it now. Hilarious considering there is federal courthouses everywhere. Got disconnected so I called back and finally got the same guy. He did give me a case # and his it's badge #. So I know it's a scam so I played along and said sure I'll pay it. He said how much was it I said in previous call? I said don't you have that info? He said oh yes, it's 5411.00. Hmm it changed. I didn't say anything. So he transfered me so I could pay it. So new guy finally says I'd need to call back tomorrow to pay it lol. I would encourage calling the number back just for the laughs lol.
IT'S A SCAM... The voice mail said "This is the IRS and IRS is filing lawsuit (not "a" lawsuit) against you. To get more information please call immediately 360-347-1790. My caller ID says Rochester WA. My boyfriend called back and gave him a lot of SH--! The guy who answered had a very strong accent and hung up!
I hope people don't fall for these calls......................IRS will not contact you by phone. It would be by mail.
