I received a voicemail, saying the I need to call the IRS back,. Saying they have been trying to reach me for days. I decided to Google the number that LVM (725.590.6554). and the she told me to call back (360.362.4719). Both ARE SCAMS. They need to be STOPPED from harassing people.
These criminals are calling from overseas boiler rooms, using VOIP to alter their locations and identities in apathetic and corrupt countries and out of the reach of US law enforcement. Here is the latest on this scam from the FTC:
Tax identity theft is the theme of the week, but it’s not the only tax scam we’re talking about. Complaints to the FTC about IRS imposter scams have shot up over the last year — by almost 50,000 complaints.
Here’s what happens: You get a call from a scammer pretending to be with the IRS, saying you’ll be arrested if you don’t pay taxes you owe right now. You’re told to wire it or put it on a prepaid debit card. They might threaten to deport you or say you’ll lose your driver’s license. Some even know your Social Security number, and they fake caller ID so you think it really is the IRS calling.
But it’s all a lie. If you send the money, it’s gone.
When you have a tax problem, the IRS will first contact you by mail. The IRS won’t ask you to wire money, pay with a prepaid debit card, or share your credit card information over the phone.
If you get a call like this, file a complaint with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at tigta.gov. You also can file a complaint with the FTC at ftc.gov/complaint. If you’re concerned there’s a real problem, call the IRS directly at 800-829-1040.
I received a phone call from 725 594 6524 claiming to be the IRS and that they were suing me. They left the callback number 360-362-4719. I know it is a scam so I did not call the number back. The initial voicemail it was a recorded message.
360-362-4719 told me that IRS is going to arrest me, take my lisence, freeze my bank accounts and that I owe $4,986. I told them this is the first I heard about it and the guy said they sent me a notice and it was never signed. Asked him the address they have on file, wasn't mine and the last digits of my social security number then and he told me wrong number so I told him that this call isn't me and its [***] and he laughed...FRAUD!!!!
