Telemarketing call, starts out Trisha asking to speak with the business manager.... I, the owner ask if this is a "telemarketing call", Trisha states its business related, again I ask if its a telemarketing call, and she says it a call to inquire about the business owners insurance needs. Instead of admitting, and being clever to not answer the question, she digs herself deeper. I state that the number is listed with the Federal Gov on the DNCL, and ask if they abide with it. She promptly says 'never mind' and hangs up.
I call back, its Farmers Insurance in Ferndale WA, and ask to speak with the office manager. Gerald comes onto the phone and tells me they are suppose to abide by the DNCL, and apologizes for the call. That they are suppose to abide by the DNCL, but obviously do not. Another reckless ran business, bothering us again.
In general a business number is not covered by the DNCL rules and telemarketers calling a known business number do not need to screen. However, the sales call must be of a product or service that the business itself would use as opposed to a product or service for the use of person they were calling to. So for example a cold call about insurance for the business, not covered. A cold call for personal life insurance for the owner that has nothing to do with business, covered.
