Got a phone call from this number this morning. A guy with an indian accent verified my name and address (which were correct) and then told me that I owed $1826 in back taxes for fraudulent taxes filed between 2009 and 2012. I thought it was a scam but made a comment that I was surprised that they wouldn't send me something in writing first. He told me that they had sent me several letters, all of which had been returned as undeliverable. He then went on to say that I could either pay them today or he would send the sheriff to my house to arrest me. He asked me which I preferred. I asked him if there was someone else there that I could talk to because I was having trouble understanding him because of his accent. About 30 seconds later, another person picked up the phone and told me the same thing. I told him that I would have my tax accountant and lawyer check into it and I thanked him for telling me about the situation and I hung up.
Got a phone call from this number yesterday afternoon. A guy with an indian accent verified my name and address (which were correct). I called them this morning I was told me that I owed $3,550.00 in back taxes for fraudulent taxes filed between 2008 and 2013. I thought it was a scam but made a comment that I was surprised that they wouldn't send me something in writing first. He told me that they had sent me several letters, to which is not true. He then went on to say that I could either pay them today or he would send the sheriff to my house to arrest me. He asked me which I preferred. I told him that it was very unusual for the IRS to call and demand a payment over the phone, The IRS does not ever do that. I told him that I was going to confirm this by calling the IRS at the Georgia branch. He immediately hangup, after telling "I'm sending the sheriff" and "freezing your bank account". I called the IRS and they told me it was scam.
But most sadly, I called the FBI to report this matter; with a potential address or location, and I was told "No, we can't do anything", "just report it to the IRS". Sad, very sad,
Have gotten 2 such calls in two days from two different numbers First was 360-807-5515 and second was 360-388-3103. We owe the IRS nothing, in fact IRS paid $6000 plus to someone claiming to be us, when we were not suppose to get a return.. Lots of scams going on. BTW they have foreign accent.
