They say they are from American Family Association, an organization I support from time to time. But American Family Association also says they don't solicit funds over the phone, which the person who called was doing. So is the person who called legit? Are they really a representative of American Family Association? Last time they called and I agreed to give money, they kept writing or was it calling to say I hadn't donated the money yet...I can't remember if it was writing or calling or both. Anyway, I had gone onto their internet website and donated already...so I was getting tired of hearing from them that I hadn't donated. I still like this organization, don't get me wrong. I just wondered, suddenly, why if American Family Association claims not to ask for money over the phone, why this person said they were with the American Family Association and proceeded to ask for funds for a particular situation they are helping fight? The number is in a Washington State area code -- the state in which I live. I didn't know if I should pick "Non-profit Organization" or "Telemarketer" down below. They aren't selling anything. And I don't know if they profit or not; the money goes to help others fight legal battles or get the info out to fight a particular ballot measure or other related things. They want me to support a cause, financially, that I do agree with. I just don't like phone solicitations for money. And I don't like getting called by an organization who says they don't solicit funds over the phone...which sent me on a search to see if this call was really from them. What if I'm being scammed in their name? On the other hand, what if they say they won't call for money and then they do? As a Christian organization, they should stand by what they say. I would rather they tell me outright that they do sometimes solicit over the phone then lie and say they don't. So, I was just checking into this whole thing. I tried to post as truthfully as possible, and I can not say for sure where I read that they say they don't ask for money over the phone. Sometimes, I read their emails or on their website and I do get mail from them by USPS.

I have received 7 calls from them in the last couple days, I do NOT answer numbers I don't recognize and I especially don't answer telemarketing calls, so I always check out the numbers on this site to see what people are saying about them. I am on the DO NOT CALL registry (What a joke!!) but continue to get a LOT of telemarketing calls. I will continue not to answer this agency especially since they can't leave a message, My Answering machine is on 24/7 so I can scan calls.
