I got the same call about the same $8000 grant...
I used Skype to call the number. A guy with a thick accent asked how he could help me.
I said I was supposed to call about a grant, provide this confirmation number and security code.
The guy said I had called the Treasury Department and he didn't know what I was talking about.
I told him I figured it was a scam... He repeated that I had the wrong number: It was the Treasury Department.
I hung up..
They said that was a government grantsfor $8000 but I had to give them some money first I believe that this is a scam and do not pick up this phone call they can disguise their number to look like a Washington DC area code they have really bad accents English accents that is
I just received a call from the same people claiming to give government grants to good citizens. $8000.00.. I would need to put money into my checking account of $200.00. This is a scam for sure. I told them to mail the check to my address. She hung up on me. Also heavy accents..
I just received the same $8000 grant offer and was told that I was 1 of 1500 in my area selected to receive this grant because I pay my bills on time/no bankruptcy in the past 6 months and no criminal records. I was told to call this number 360-761-4364 & speak with them for about 20 to 25 minutes and I would not be asked for any financial information. The caller gave me a "grant ID number" and "a money security number" I would need to provide once I called the number above. My guess is that if they could not phish vital information out of me sent an hat time span, they were not very good scammers. I contacted my bank and they said they had not heard of this one yet, been advised me to contact local law enforcement to see if they've heard of the scam. Local law enforcement said it was most certainly a scam because our Fed Gov't isn't in the business of paying federal employees to call U.S. citizens to give grant money away. Gee... Where is all that free obama-money? And to think dialing-for-dollars, still hasn't called and Wheel of Fortune nor Jeopardy has sent an invite, but if anyone has money to give away, please send a cashier's check or cash is always welcome.
Received the $8000 free grant money spiel and the approval #, security code # and instructions to call 260-801-4364. Did not call that number but did reverse look up. 360 area code is Buckley WA and 206 is Seattle WA.
