I had been summoned for jury duty, and requested to delay it. I got a postcard from the courthouse confirming this. Scammers calling themselves Thurston County Sheriffs called my parents' house the afternoon of my original summons date (3/20) and said to call them back. I called the next morning, 360-768-1899, left a message, they called me back and said there must be a mixup and I needed to bring my new summons postcard to the sheriff's office. They said to call them after I got off work. As soon as I got on the phone they wouldn't let me off. Threatened to book me if I didn't show up with a bonding certificate for my charges (contempt of court, failure to appear). Said they'd pay me back with cashiers check after I showed up and cleared this up. I had to go to multiple ATMs, call my bank to extend my withdrawal limit, all while staying on the phone with them. I said my parents would be worried and they said they'd have "Nancy" call them. At a stop light I was able to text my parents briefly what was going on. They then tried to call me many times but I couldn't answer because I had to stay on the phone with the "sheriff." By the time they told me to get Money Pak cards worth $1868 and give them the "insurance number" off the back, it had been over 2 hours of me driving around frantic to get the cash. My phone was dying, I couldn't call anyone else, I was worn down and panicked and terrified. I gave them the numbers from the cards, then started heading to the sheriff's office. On the way they said one of the cards didn't work so I needed to get another one. I yelled that I can't get any more money out of my bank and I can call my parents to ask for some. When I called my parents they said it's a scam and to hang up, but it was too late. The scammers had the Money Pak numbers. Later the scammers tried to call me and they texted me "Want your money back? You can make some too."
