Said they were from fire fighters raising funds for burned children. (I have donated to firefighters before). They knew my address and asked if I still lived here. I said I did. Then they put me on with a woman supervisor to confirm my donation and asked that Once I get envelope and written request in the mail that I send in donation right away and my check would go to their Santa Anna office. I called the number back and a robo voice said "this phone number is not assigned". I also googled this number and found out the number is/was (?) assigned to a dog grooming business in Sultan, WA. This call just occurred at 5:40 pm 5-14-16.
'This is John of the Association of Firefighters and Paramedics' Calls every week. This week he called twice. I ask for his home phone so i can bother him at home. I asked for their main number and person in charge. He gave me 888-263-6073 and said their president is Michael F Gambola. https://oag.ca.gov/system/files/attachments/press_releases/n1994_60559593.pdf "The Attorney General, on behalf of the People, sued AFP and Gamboa in the underlying action for deceptive and misleading charitable solicitations, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, negligence per se, removal, involuntary dissolution, unfair competition, and disseminating false or misleading Statements."
I just copied my Facebook post about my experience with this number a few minutes ago... I'm irate!--------Wow... I really hate to do this, but I'm not convinced that this wasn't a scam call.
Just got a call from this number, and a man stated that he was calling for support of burn victim children and fire fighters. I can't remember the group name that he said, but when I said "right now, I can't pledge any amount because our daughter just spent the last few days in the hospital" his response was that I could do at least 15.00 right? When I said "sorry, I don't feel comfortable offering any amount right now, because I have no idea how many thousand dollars that I may have to pay." He got an attitude and said he gets it, I just don't want to help out with the fire fighters that risk their lives for people like me.... I'm absolutely appalled right now! Please don't donate to them if they call you!
