I also received the same call as everyone else. I did talk to a guy and he was trying to "fundraise for WA State Troopers". He tried to get me to commit to an amount to donate. He said that they don't ask for it over the phone, that they send it in the mail. He said that he could only send it if it was a guarantee that I was going to send the amount that we agreed on. I told him I was happy to support but would not be able to commit to an amount without discussing with my husband first. He said that he would be unable to send me a packet because "just like you not wanting to send us a blank check, we don't want to send you a free tax write off receipt". I told him I understood and he hung up. He was not really rude to me but definitely wanted a commitment on a donation amount. When I couldn't do that, he didn't have time to speak with me anymore.
No message, oddly it's been ringing only 3 times, my answering machine is set to 4. Man, if ANY spammer thinks I'm gonna run to the phone these days, they're trippin'. My own family knows better...
These jokers call 2-3 times a month and they never listen when you request that they not call again. It is a telefundraiser saying that they are calling on behalf of the Washington State Patrol Troopers Association. This fundraiser only gives $.15 out of every dollar raised to the state troopers. The rest is overhead, aka 'profit' for the solicitor company contracted by the charity.
Not sure how they did it but they called my cell and asked for my sister (she has an unusual name). Super creepy. Then the guy hung up on me because I wouldn't give out my address.
