I got a call today from a Rocky Hill saying he works at a Dorsey & Whitney Law Firm. He said that I have a civil Lawsuit against me. He would never say the original loan amount. He also had a very deep West Indian accent. I called the real law firm that is located in Seattle Washington and was informed that there is a scam going on and that someone is using there name.
You will notice in this call you are never named. Just that you are to 'call back'. The reason for this is your caller is a foreign 3rd world criminal using a computer, high speed internet, voip & a few dollars in software to fake their caller ID. The idea is to get you to call back in a panic, and reveal all your caller ID information. Then - you will be told you must pay back some fictional loan & let the extortion attempt begin.
I received a call today 7/3/2014 stating that the person name was Arthur Brown, he left a message on my voicemail and told me that I needed to call him back right away and if I didn't he was sending the police out to my job for a loan that I had out that wasn't paid. I called the number back and asked for Arthur Brown the guy with a heavy forgein accent then tells me that Arthur Brown was the janitor and his name was John Borring and that he needed to talk to me about a legal matter against me. I then told him to I had no loans out and that I knew this was a scam and that I have my attorney that will be taking care of his [***].
I had the same thing happened to yesterday 7/2/14 Arthur Brown lft me a VM that I needed to call him back right away. This was re: a Loan I owed & that I was court summoned & was going to be sending police out to arrest me at my job or home.
I was freaking out as I didn't know this was a scam at first till I pulled up the number online. Hubby got on phone & exchanged some heavy words.
I had someone call me today from the same number his name was John Marshall he claims that I did not pay a fee from a loan that I took out and that the authorities were coming to my job on Monday to arrest me if I did not take care of it in order to take care of it I needed to go and get a prepaid car from Walgreens or CVS and call him back with the pin number after I load the funds onto it! I am born in raised in the hood and although I am a very polished. Professional I can still retreat to my roots! He must have thought that he had a real fool!
