Insurance companies are notoriously leaky with birthdates.
Did you give your birthdate to organizations like the American Automobile Association?
I have been getting letters from AARP begging me to join, although I have never associated with them or any of the businesses they promote.

Call aarp to get off mailing list.  Got direct number from their mailings.  My 30 yr old daughter was getting Medicare mailings!  I took care of that promptly!!!
