This number called me 3 times in 1 week, about some medical service, if disabled, blah, blah, blah. The recording says that. When I let answering machine answer it, line is open but no one speaks, then it buzzes and goes dead. Quit calling us1 -- Layton, UT

Same deal here in Cedar City. I thought it was a real person but I guess it's a robo call, which would explain why he wouldn't shut up even when I yelled at him. I feel a little stupid now. I tried calling the number back and got a message that I had reached a number that is no longer in service, so the number that comes up on the screen is somehow faked.
They called me again and this time I stayed on the line and talked to a person. He told me all about how the device was the same thing you've seen on TV with the "I've fallen and I can't get up" commercials. He had a relatively long shpiel about how great the product was, how it works for 800 feet, an eighth of a mile, just wear the waterproof button to summon help from inside your home or from outside. I asked him what company he was with and he said he was with the Senior Alert Care Company. I asked him for a phone number and he said I could get that from the confirmation department. I asked how to talk to the confirmation department and he said he would transfer me there as soon as I signed up. I suppose that if I hadn't then started to tell him off he would have asked for my credit card, but I didn't get that far.
Once I got a name of the company, I told him that I didn't order anything, no one I knew ordered anything, and furthermore I am on the "Do Not Call" registry and I wanted the number of the company so that I could tell them to remove me from their list and to stop calling me. At that point he hung up.
I could hear quite a lot of noise in the background, like it was a large, open room with lots of people talking on the phone.
After I hung up I did an internet search and very quickly found that it is an illegal scam. Here are a couple of links:
