Caller ID said "NAME NOT FOUND". The exchange is a fake exchange - there is no exchange "144", so right off the bat you know it's a spoofed call. I did not answer, the machine recorded the sound of someone hanging up.
I doubt many will see this but phone numbers don't just follow a sequential pattern. The rules for the first six digits are NPA NXX. For the NPA (Area Code) the first digit must be 2-9. For NXX (Exchange) the first digit must be 2-9, and the second two digits can be 0-9 except the third digit cannot be 1 if the second digit is also 1 unless the NPA is not a geographic area code (i.e. 800 numbers are not geographic thus 800-311 could be valid).
For some reason many scammers do not understand or stick to the NPA NXX rules, so you can be sure if you see a number like 386-144-0910 it is a fake number.
